Qualifications and Training Programs are the same features in the LMS. Qualification is the term used in the Enterprise LMS. Training Program is the term used in the MSHA LMS. MSHA customers will refer to Training Programs articles to set up their Training Programs. The Express LMS is a basic feature LMS and does not include all the features of a full-service LMS. The Express LMS does not include the ability to create qualifications. |
INTRODUCTION
Deactivating a qualification is the preferable alternative to deleting a qualification. You might want to deactivate a qualification when you no longer want to offer it as part of your training or because it is outdated and no longer applies to the work you do.
Note: Deleting a qualification is generally discouraged as all completion records associated with that requirement are also deleted.
When the qualification is deactivated:
- Completion records for user stay intact
- Will no longer appear on the user’s training tab as an assigned qualification
- Will no longer be available to admins to assign to learners
- Will no longer appear on reports, unless requested
- Can be activated at any time
DEACTIVATE A QUALIFICATION
Follow these steps to deactivate a qualification:
- Click the Administration tab at the top of the screen
- Click the Qualifications link, then Qualifications on the left menu bar
- Search and locate the desired qualification following the directions provided in the Using Search article
- Click the requirement name to highlight the activity row
Note: To select multiple requirements, use Shift + Left Mouse click or Ctrl + Left Mouse click - Click the Other Actions button on the button bar
- Select Deactivate Qualifications from the drop-down menu
- Click the OK button on the Deactivate Qualifications confirmation screen
Note: The qualification will disappear from the Manage Qualifications screen. This is because the default view on the Manage Qualifications screen displays Active Qualifications only. Refer to the View Inactive Qualifications article below for instructions to view inactive requirements.
VIEW INACTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
The Manage Qualifications screen defaults to display active qualifications only. Therefore, all search results will only display active qualifications. The view can easily be changed to display inactive qualifications. Follow these steps to view inactive qualification records:
- Click the Administration tab at the top of the screen
- Click the Qualifications link, then Qualifications on the left menu bar
- Click the Other Actions button on the button bar
- Select Show Inactive Qualifications from the drop-down menu
- A list of all inactive qualifications will appear.
- Search and locate the requirement following the directions provided in the Using Search article
- Refer to the Activate a Qualification article below to edit the requirement record or the Activate a Qualification article to activate the inactive qualification.
ACTIVATE A QUALIFICATION
A deactivated qualification can be activated at any time. Follow these steps to activate an inactive Qualification:
- Click the Administration tab at the top of the screen
- Click the Qualifications link, then Qualifications on the left menu bar
- Search and locate the qualification following the directions provided in the View Inactive Qualifications article above
- Click the qualification to highlight the row
Note: To select multiple qualifications, use Shift + Left Mouse click and or Ctrl + Left Mouse click - Click the Other Actions button on the button bar
- Select Activate Qualifications from the drop-down menu
- Click the OK button on the Activate Qualifications confirmation screen
Note: The qualifications may disappear from the Manage Qualifications screen. This is because the selected view on the Manage Qualifications screen displays Inactive Qualifications only. Select Other Actions then Show Active Qualifications to return to the Manage Qualifications default view.
