Qualifications and Training Programs are the same features in the LMS. Qualification is the term used in the Enterprise LMS. Training Program is the term used in the MSHA LMS. MSHA customers will refer to Training Programs articles to set up their Training Programs. The Express LMS is a basic feature LMS and does not include all the features of a full-service LMS. The Express LMS does not include the ability to create qualifications. |
INTRODUCTION
Qualifications allow LMS Administrators to bundle multiple associated activities together for an assignment. Qualifications can be used as a method to:
- Formally, "certify" or "qualify" employees that need to master a job or skill. Example, Machine Operator 1 or Fork Lift Operator.
- Informally, avoid individually assigning multiple related activities where no skill or mastery is required. Example, New Hire Orientation or MS Office training: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Qualifications are made up of:
- Requirements: A sub-set of the qualification that includes related activities.
- Activities: Any training content that has been imported or created within the LMS
A completion record is generated AUTOMATICALLY once the user completes ALL activities included in the qualification.
Sample Qualifications may include:
- New Hire On-Boarding
- Emergency Responders
- Forklift Training
- Safety Training
- Office Automation: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Job Specific: sales, administration, management, human resources, electrician, etc.
QUALIFICATION FEATURES
Qualifications are a “building block” of a training program and allow you to:
- “Bundle” together multiple activities necessary for the assignment.
- You may add and remove activities and/or requirements into existing qualifications. The Learners training tab is automatically updated to reflect any activities added or removed from the qualification.
- Adding new activities to an existing qualification will reset the completion status back to incomplete.
- Adding new requirements to an existing qualification will reset the completion status back to incomplete.
- Requirements are “re-usable” and put into any number of qualifications.
Note: If re-using requirements in multiple qualifications, the requirement will be marked as complete for ALL qualifications once a user completes it in ANY of the qualifications included in that requirement. Please refer to the Assign Training: Basic Scheduling and the Assign Training: Advanced Scheduling articles for more details on setting assignments that include qualifications with duplicate requirements. - Activities are “re-usable” and put into any number of requirements.
